Documenting Family Life during Covid

It’s hard to believe that we are living in pandemic times. It feels like you’re watching a movie or an episode of Black Mirror. With testing being so fast and convenient, I started shooting DITL again. I missed photographing families so much. These are some crazy times, but I think they’re worth documenting because life is going to be different for a while now that COVID has taken over our lives- not just people’s health, but also our routines.

As a photographer, I feel that documenting our family’s memories now is more important than ever while things are good and while they’re not so great. We need to acknowledge remember those simple moments, even when life can be difficult at times. Is those moments that will make us appreciate life even more, once things get better. Photographs and Documenting Family Life will be a treasure for young generations.

So when the amazing creative photographer Luz Silva called I knew she was thinking how important would be a DITL at the moment. After testing negative I grabbed my camera and drove to Hollywood, Fl with a big smile on my face. I was born to shoot.

As a fan of music here is the song I picked for these times…

Well I can’t give you everything you want
But I could give you what you thought you need
A map to keep beneath your seat, you read to me in time I’ll get you there
So fold it up so we don’t find our way back soon, nobody knows we are here
We could park the van and walk to town
Find the cheapest bottle of wine that we could find
And talk about the road behind
(Jack Johnson)
